Cleanup weekends at Memorial High School
Help us clear the building so restoration work can begin. Three weekends in October. Bring gloves, show up ready to work, and leave knowing you helped save a Chandler landmark.
What we are doing
Friends of Chandler HS is organizing volunteer cleanouts of the old Memorial High School. The building is full of desks, trophies, junk, and debris. Clearing it makes the school safer, cuts down on break-ins, and gets us ready for inspections and repairs.
This is hard, dusty, physical work. There is no power or air conditioning inside. We will have roll-off dumpsters on site, and we will sort what can be saved, sold, recycled, or thrown away.
Dates and times
Plan for a full workday. Check in starts at 8:00 AM. We wrap around 4:00 PM, or earlier if the dumpsters are full and the crew is spent. Tap a weekend below to RSVP on Facebook, or use the contact form further down if you prefer.

Look for the volunteer check-in table near the work entrance. Please do not climb through unsecured areas on your own. Wait for a crew lead to point you where to go.
Parking will be directed on site. Wear closed-toe shoes. The grounds and floors can be uneven.
What to bring
- Work gloves
- Closed-toe shoes or boots
- Water bottle (refills available)
- Snacks or a simple lunch
- Clothes you can get dirty
- Sunscreen and a hat for outdoor staging
We will provide trash bags, basic cleanup supplies, and a sign-in / liability waiver on site. Everyone must sign in before working.
Who can help
Volunteers 16+
Under 18 need a parent or guardian present to sign the waiver.
Any skill level
Carrying, sorting, sweeping, and loading dumpsters. We will put you where you fit.
Come for a day
